Why is my bank account checked?

Account checks help confirm that a payout goes to the right person.

Submit application

Opens an external application service. Check its terms before submitting. About this link.

Documents, a pen and a calculator arranged on a desk.

Confirming ownership

The payout account must be a South African bank account in your own name. Account ownership, identity and bank information may be compared during the real application process. A borrowed or third-party account is not suitable for this product.

If details have changed

Give current account information through the verified application service. A change of bank may require new checks. Do not rely on details from a previous application being automatically updated.

Protect access to your bank

Never send a bank password, card PIN or OTP to a person by chat, email or phone. If a verification service opens, check its identity, domain, permissions and privacy notice before proceeding. Leave if the destination cannot be verified.

If verification fails

Check that your name and account number were entered correctly, then use the official support channel for the application. Do not repeatedly submit different accounts to bypass a mismatch.

Already using a different account?

Read how to request a bank-detail change. Check separately whether a payout, repayment mandate or scheduled collection is affected.
