A familiar name or logo is not enough. Check the message, the destination and the request.

Documents, a pen and a calculator arranged on a desk.

Verify the creditor and channel

Check the legal entity and NCR registration against the NCR register. Compare these details with the agreement and the website. A logo, registration number copied into a message or padlock icon does not alone prove that a sender is genuine.

Information to keep private

  • Never send your bank PIN, online-banking password or OTP to a person.
  • Do not send identity documents to an unverified social account.
  • Do not pay a personal account for a promised approval or loan release.
  • Do not install a remote-access app at a caller’s request to receive a loan.

Check messages before following links

Inspect the full domain name and avoid shortened links from unknown senders. Open a trusted address independently. Watch for urgency, a changed bank account, unexpected attachments and requests to move the conversation to a personal chat.

If you have shared information or paid

Contact your bank immediately using its official number or app if banking access or funds may be at risk. Preserve messages, account details and payment references. Report suspected crime to SAPS and contact the relevant creditor through an independent, verified channel.

What this site asks for

The calculator asks only for a loan amount, term and comparison choices. The help search works locally. Neither needs your name, phone number, ID, bank details or income. This site has no document-upload or payment form.
