The basic requirements
You are 18 or older and live in South Africa.
You hold a valid South African identity document.
You have a South African bank account in your own name.
You have income that can be verified and can afford the repayments after essential expenses.
You can provide current, accurate contact details and information about existing credit.
Information to prepare
Prepare your identity document, recent evidence of income and bank statements covering the most recent three months where available. Additional information may be needed if income varies or a document cannot be verified. Check how to prepare documents.
What affordability means
The assessment considers money coming in, essential spending, dependants and other credit repayments. It is not based only on salary. Do not omit commitments or overstate income to seek a higher loan.
If you are under debt review or another legal restriction, tell the creditor before applying. This short-term product is not designed to replace a debt-counselling plan.
Keep your documents safe
Send documents only after independently verifying the destination. Never send a banking password, bank PIN or OTP to a person claiming to be a lender. Check the security guidance.
One active loan at a time
A new Lendeka application follows full repayment of an existing Lendeka loan. Returning customers still go through a new assessment.
Different income patterns
Weekly, fortnightly, variable or self-employed income needs a clear record and a schedule that can be assessed. This page does not promise acceptance of a particular source. Prepare income evidence and check the actual repayment dates before accepting an offer.
Credit checks and debt review
Every new Lendeka loan requires credit and affordability checks. If you are under debt review, consult your registered debt counsellor; this product is not a route around that process. Read the relevant guidance.
