How do I get a paid-up letter?

Ask for written confirmation after the final payment has been allocated.

Submit application

Opens an external application service. Check its terms before submitting. About this link.

Documents, a pen and a calculator arranged on a desk.

What to ask for

Contact the creditor using the details on your agreement. Give your agreement reference and ask for confirmation of the loan’s closure and any remaining balance. Keep the document with the agreement and final payment confirmation.

If a payment is still processing

Provide the bank payment reference and date through the agreed secure channel. The creditor may need to reconcile the payment before confirming closure. Do not make a duplicate payment without checking.

If the letter looks wrong

Check the name, agreement reference and closure information. Ask for correction in writing. A paid-up letter is not a guarantee that every credit-bureau record has already updated; query any inaccurate reporting separately.

For a later application

A paid-up letter may help you explain a previous agreement, but it does not guarantee a new loan. Together eligibility and a fresh affordability assessment still apply.
