Ask for an explanation
Use the official contact for the application and ask what explanation can be provided. If information was incorrect or incomplete, ask how to correct it through the appropriate channel. Do not alter documents or use another person’s details.
Check your credit information
If inaccurate credit information may have influenced the decision, obtain your information through a registered credit bureau and follow its dispute process. A dispute is not a promise of a loan approval.
Review the need and the budget
Consider whether the expense can be delayed, reduced or discussed with the service provider. Repeated applications do not solve an affordability shortfall. If existing debt is difficult, read repayment guidance.
Do not pay for a guaranteed reversal
Be cautious of anyone who claims they can guarantee acceptance or erase a credit record for a payment. Check the creditor and any adviser independently.
Reasons and inaccurate information
The NCR explains your right to reasons when a credit application is turned down. Ask the creditor for those reasons. If a bureau entry is inaccurate, follow the credit-report dispute steps; correcting a record is separate from a new lending decision.
