Understand the request
When DebiCheck is used, your bank asks you to authenticate details of a debit-order mandate. The request concerns the payment arrangement. It is separate from the lender’s decision on the application and from the money arriving in your account.
Use the exact instructions from your own bank. Authentication options differ by bank and situation, so do not follow an unfamiliar caller’s instructions to install software or share credentials.
Read before accepting
The creditor or collecting party is one you recognise.
The amount and collection date match the agreement.
Any permitted variation is explained and understood.
The account is yours and the request was expected.
If a detail is wrong, pause and ask the creditor to correct it through an official channel. Keep the mandate or request reference for the conversation.
Keep authentication private
A lender does not need you to read a bank PIN or OTP aloud to authenticate a mandate on your behalf. Work within the bank’s own app or supported channel. If a message is unexpected, contact the bank using a number you independently know.
If authentication fails
Check the status with your bank or the creditor rather than repeatedly confirming messages you do not understand. An expired or incomplete request may need to be reissued. Do not assume that an unsuccessful authentication cancels an agreement already entered into.
Disputes and payment difficulties
A payment mandate and the underlying debt are different. Ask your bank about disputing an unauthorised collection. If the problem is affordability, contact the creditor before the due date to discuss options. Cancelling a collection does not itself resolve a valid repayment obligation.
